Car Sale Internet Fraud
I have recently been looking to purchase a car, when I came across a great deal online. First I sent in an inquiry from the Kijiji website to maria28johnson@yahoo.com asking for more information about the “to good to be true” car deal she had posted. She was selling a fully loaded 2002 Honda Accord with leather in PERFECT condition for $4000. Generally these cars sell for from $7000 to $16000 depending on condition.
Please note that any language within the quotes from the e-mails of maria28johnson@yahoo.com do not reflect the views and/or opinions of myself or anyone else posting to this website.

Here is the first reply I got:
Hi,
I’m Maria, let me know if you’re still interested my car is 2002 Honda Accord, never been involved in a accident, no damage, no scratch, no rust and i can say that this car is in perfect condition and you will love this car if you will decide to move forward.
The price is not negotiable $4000 firm,I sell at this price because I just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce has finished I own this car. Now as a women I don’t need.
I’ve got photos of the car hosted on Internet at the following link:http://s399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Honda-Accord_photo/
Thanks.
So I replied to “Maria” with the following:
where is the car located?
To that question, I received this reply from the kind and friendly “Maria”:
Hi,the car is located right now in Edmonton, at the shipping company eBay, is packaged and waiting for delivery.I’m really sorry for you but we can’t meet face to face because I’m moved to my parents here in Edmonton because i just finished the divorce with my husband and i have moved to my parents for a while. You will have 10 days from the time you receive to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not, if by any reason, you will not be satisfied, you will return the car to shipping company with no expense.
Please reply with your complete name and shipping address in your next email and let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about this purchase so that I can open a transaction case at eBay and to move forward with this deal. After that they will contact you with all necessary information about this transaction(terms, buyer protection, payment instructions,invoice,etc.).Thanks again!
Maria Johnson

Now I know a nice car when I see one, and this car was a GREAT DEAL.
After that reply I was feeling sad about “Maria’s” situation, and so I sent a quick note off to the wonderful “Maria.” I am not actually in Edmonton, but because of the hurt I felt for her situation, I wanted to try to make her feel happy again:
I am sorry to hear about your divorce, but as it happens I am in Edmonton and would love to go and see the car, or meet you to discuss my purchasing of it.
After a few days, I had still not received any emails, yet before, I was receiving them within minutes of sending mine. So I decided to look into the purchase of the car:
I will pay $6000 for the car, but I will send you a cheque and then you will cash it and send me back some of the money because my employer is wanting to pay for the car, but I can cheat them out of some money. Also, I will give you a bonus for the deal to go through. If you are prompt with sending me all of your banking information, I will steal your identity and then send you a box full of human feces.
If that sounds great to you, please forward me all of your details.
It sounded reasonable to me, and so I sent it off. Minutes later I received the following reply from the fair and sweet “Maria”:
fuck you nigger
I guess she got a better offer.

Thanks for getting back to me,the car is in Alberta.
I’m currently in a trip with my company (Norwegian Cruise Line) for the next 2 weeks, that’s why i arranged everything with the delivery of the car.I work as a dealer on a cruise ship.
I want to tell you that we will use eBay in this transaction in order for both of us to be 100% protected and insured by them.eBay will supervise this transaction so there won`t be any problems. They will take care of the shipping and all the small details. You will get the car and you will have 5 days of inspection in which you can decide if you buy the car or not.If you won`t like my car(not your case)you notify eBay and you send the car back on my cost,if you want to keep it you announce eBay you send the money(payment method and all the details will be set up by eBay)and you keep the car.
eBay will send you an invoice at your email in which you will see how to start the this transaction and in which you can see that this transaction is legit. Please get back to me with your full name, full address and phone number so i can forward your details to eBay in order for you to receive the invoice.
